JOURNAL ENTRY
The road seemed to be a treadmill
with the foothills
on our left never changing.
Some girls at the Park and Fly near
the Ontario (not Canada) airport shared their water and let us take
a
quick picture.
Google called it twenty two miles -
seemed a bit more
like thirty.
I decided not to include a photograph
of a business that was covered with freshly painted signs -- all of
them except for one faded and aged "WE SUPPORT OUR VETERANS."
Not too surprising, it was at an Military and Outdoor Store. This was
just another reminder of how often we seen signs and flags that would;
at first glance seem to be about patriotism, that are often just advertising
gimics. Maybe we could add to the tables of stone an Eleventh Commandment,
Thou shalt not take the name of our nation in vein.
So many of these journal entries are
just notes as I brainstorm the day's events.
I arrived at Post 497 where Linda Smith
kindly offered me glass after glass of water. They have really great
water in San Bernadino County, California. They also gave me bowls of
chips and a great tamale.
I enjoyed my visit there and hope to
return some day.
There was no way to take pictures of
that project the warmth of this post.
