JOURNAL ENTRY
We are meeting with the Marine
Corps
League tonight and then I am returning
the the desert to finish my walk to Mesquite.
It was interesting to see their meeting, with
every new member guest a "Steven." I
felt very much at home.
At one point they applauded our efforts.
I was humbled as I looked out at so many
who have done so much more than have I.
Men and Women Marines with often
many multiples of the years I spent in
uniform -- more each of them extending
their hands out in friendship and support
for this project, which now belongs to
each of them as much as it does to
either Natt, D. Anson or Myself.
The desert between Las Vegas
and Mesquite
is rock and dirt. You might suppose that
I should add more. If I could, I would: trees and water.
At one stop, looking at the
photograph
of Norman and I selling his homemade
jerky, he commented that from his
point of view, the white man was loosing
his nation. It was an interesting point.
There are likely many how feel that way
who are members of a variety of groups,
My own belief is that The United States of America, unlike every other
nation in
history that rose to power, was created
to extend the highest office in the land
to each individual citizen. Thus, to me,
it was never intended to be a white nation,
though the majority of the early leadership
were white; though never all of them.
From our birty their were many different
voices and faces.
So, it seems to me, while to
some it has
taken a very long time to get as far as
we have to becoming nation:
collective of the world, we have done so
without objection from the American
People, at large.

Yes, this is the famous Vegas Sign. I failed to get all the people standing
around
the bottom as their relatives took their pics. It seemed imposing.

This is the MGM Lion. Is that sort of a DUH! Statement?

It's difficult to just walk down the sidewalks. There are stores you
have to go into and
Up and over the street back into another store, then down either steps
or escalators.
Interesting and tiring...

A pink elephant in Vegas - but didn't see Elvis. Any of them.

I had to include this because it makes me stop everytime I see her.
She still amazes me.

Leaving Las Vegas, I followed the fenceline into nowhere. I always thought
of
nowhere being located in West Texas. It resides; also, north of Las
Vegas.

I look like I'm hawking his jerky on the side of the road. I certainly
would. It is some
of the; if not the, best jerky I have had. I hope we can get a link
up to him soon.

Yes, this is another desert photo. I am no putting up the other 3000
that look
very much the same. Today; 51 miles of the same.

One last shot at nothing. I became quite familiar with nothing. Not
even lizards, today.

This tourist photograph was taken for the members of the group pictured
and
they are welcome to print it when they can. They seem very happy to
be wandering
about the chaos that is Las Vegas.
