JOURNAL ENTRY

Natt and I began walking through Fishlake National Forest, realizing this would be a sixtyfour mile day. There were signs that warned of grades up to 9 degrees.

We began without a great plan, other than to walk. Realizing we hadn't packed a lunch, we stopped in at a sandwhich shop. The lady gave us each a sandwhich, bag of chips, a bottle of Gatoraid and a Snicker - the candybar.

Along the path to the summit we passed a coral snake, a small bear, a mountain goat and a lot of deer. As we climbed higher and higher, the temperatures dropped. We added layers of clothes that would still prove insufficient.

After returning to Beaver, we had to find
a way to get back to the truck. A fomer
Marine with a son in the Navy (how did that happen -- patriotism) gave us a ride. On the one hand, he acknowledged he didn't want to and then stood fast on his offer. That really is what Patriots do! This reference isn't
really about helping this crew walking
across America, it is about the broader
issue. Patriotism isn't when Americans
do what they want but do what they
feel is best for the country.

I realized, all too well, the recent days had been so filled with trying to play, "catch-up" on our miles I had done little else. The couple of web pages you come to next will bear this out. I regret not having the time to do them justice.

Sometimes we get so caught up in our hate for big oil
we forget the wonderful people that work for
these companies. Thanks for your help, guys!

makes individual and custom candles!
They had no website, so I guess people just
come in or call. It is filled with great stuff!

This totem stands along the road that becomes
153 that goes into the National Forest.

This 4' X 18' Banner is by SeeLevel in Pensacola and is its first day up on our concert tour.

I love Smokey the Bear. This was one of the highlights of this day of 90+ miles on foot.

This mountain goat was so high this was max zoom and still small.

I watched as the magpies flew back and forth across the road, their white wings
seemingly spinning rather than flapping.

Natt walking through the National Park, unaware after walking 31 or 32 miles, we
would be returning to Beaver because the pass is burried in snow.

This bridge was fun to walk across. We took turns. This is Natt.

This water is directly from the snow on the mountains above.

Natt on ice.

This is the location in Beaver for the BEST SANDWICHES in TOWN!
