The Walk for THE WALK Tour is a walk
across America from Malibu, California
to Washington, D.C. taking the design for
a liner museum of American History
called: THE WALK to the public.
This project is to introduce this new
design for an American History Museum
to the American public. The 3800+ mile
walk should also allow people to
understand that we do not
believe it will be an easy project, but
that it is possible to do difficult things
when the desire is there, and like the
history of this continent and this nation,
The Walk has been filled with bright
moments, exhillerating adventures
and some set backs. Each of these
has added to what we are as a nation
and who we are as a people.
JOURNAL ENTRY
I spent time with so many people in Goodland,
I didn't want to exclude the moment spent
with this Captain of the Kit Carson County
Sheriff's Dept. He and I shared a moment
and discovered we both had Kit Carson as
a childhood hero.
Life is so short, it is sad we have so little
time to spend learning about what others
do as we rush about our own lives.
This is Brewster's only cafe: an elegant
Steak House, today's special was
Mexican Food.
WALK ACROSS AMERICA: PHOTO
ALBUM PAGES
I decided to follow the railroad tracks for a while. Miles and miles
of miles and miles.
This is really a little house on the prairie.
This gentleman, cowboy, pastor just finished a long day chasing cows.
At 13, this ranch hand is tall for his age. I enjoyed my visit with
these folks, who
rescued me from a northbound turn out of Brewster, Kansas
Ani: the road turns into water, then the water turns into sky. When
I traveled across
this country by jeep, I loved that lyric, now walking, how clearly she
describes the
vision that is before me most of the day.
No Rain... Just the reflection of the car and lights on the mirage.
This photograph shows how large farm equiptment can be.
We have arrived in Kansas at the beginning of Harvest. Walking beside
these
giants can be a test of how long I can hold my breath.
Sometimes when it seems there is nothing but nothing on the horizen,
look down.
Walking along the road is always a shared experience.
Members and Posts of
these organizations have
given us support along
our journey. I hope
this projects serves them
as well as they have served
this nation --
and us while we walk.
The links below can take
you to personal myspace
pages. I hope you will
keep up with what
we are doing, and add
to the project: drop us
a note, suggestions or
comments.
This site follows us as we make our way along America's roads
and highways, but this project is about raising awareness for a linear
museum of American History called: The
Walk.
The project is about one individual and then another: not one
more important than the next, but each a link in the chain we call "America."
Millions of stories that should never be forgotten, perhaps preventing
some future American from making their mistakes, or leading the next
generation to a brighter future.
Our future is not written in stone. It never was. This nation
was not left to us as a gift. It was left to us as a challenge. We can
do no more. We should do no less.
I hope you enjoy looking
at these pages. Maybe
return to our beginning
and walk with us,
enjoy the things we saw
and maybe laugh at some
of the things we did.
Some suggest we have
lost our minds. Maybe.
May just ask if they
can help us. When I hear
that question, I am forced
to admit, "Many people hope you can."
