The Walk for THE WALK Tour is a walk
across America from Malibu, California
to Washington, D.C. taking the design for
a liner museum of American History
called: THE WALK to the public.

This project is to introduce this new
design for an American History Museum
to the American public. The 3800+ mile
walk should also allow people to
understand that we do not
believe it will be an easy project, but
that it is possible to do difficult things
when the desire is there, and like the
history of this continent and this nation,
The Walk has been filled with bright
moments, exhillerating adventures
and some set backs. Each of these
has added to what we are as a nation
and who we are as a people.

JOURNAL ENTRY

The day was a mix of scenery as Natt and I made our way through the Wildlife Park just west of Salina, then walked along Hwy 40 to Abilene, Kansas.

Controlled fires added to the heat steaming up from the pavement as I watched Mississippi Kites dive from the blue skies, through the smoke and snatch up mouse after mouse, trying to escape the fire, only to be snatched up and eaten by these wonderous birds.

A child at the park walked up to one of the signs, reached out and allowed a butterfly to walk onto her finger.

The train engineers continue to wave. I wonder if they have passed me before. I am beginning to recognize some of the truckers that honk and wave as they pass on by.

Abilene has trollies, nice if you want to see
all of the mansions!
We walked.

WALK ACROSS AMERICA: PHOTO ALBUM PAGES

Looking down over the edge of one of the many bridges along Hwy 40, I saw this
bunny resting on a piece of concrete, one of many that cluttered the bottom of the
off again on again riverbed.

Red winged blackbirds sly over and about my head as I walk along the side of the
road. I often wonder why. They follow me for miles, until another takes over the
watch.

Now, this is a camel. Actually, it is a dromedary.

We walked about the wildlife refuge that is just west of Salina. As always, our
trips to such places are shorter than we would like.

There was a great old billy, but I liked this image better. Mother and her young,
moving through the grasses.

Sometimes faeries are disguised as little girls.

Someone with a thermometer showed me the roadside was over 120 degrees,
the fire adding to the already hot and humid day.

This will be the last image from the park. We have so many to chose from, I hate
not to post them all.

Mary Baer wrote to remind me it is located at 301 NW 3rd in Abilene.
I hope everyone who drives through, stops in. You will love this place!

Much easier than the real one I spent time on some years back.

This site follows us as we make our way along America's roads and highways, but this project is about raising awareness for a linear museum of American History called: The Walk.

The project is about one individual and then another: not one more important than the next, but each a link in the chain we call "America."
Millions of stories that should never be forgotten, perhaps preventing some future American from making their mistakes, or leading the next generation to a brighter future.

Our future is not written in stone. It never was. This nation was not left to us as a gift. It was left to us as a challenge. We can do no more. We should do no less.
