The Walk for THE WALK Tour is a walk
across America from Malibu, California
to Washington, D.C. taking the design for
a liner museum of American History
called: THE WALK to the public.
This project is to introduce this new
design for an American History Museum
to the American public. The 3800+ mile
walk should also allow people to
understand that we do not
believe it will be an easy project, but
that it is possible to do difficult things
when the desire is there, and like the
history of this continent and this nation,
The Walk has been filled with bright
moments, exhillerating adventures
and some set backs. Each of these
has added to what we are as a nation
and who we are as a people.
JOURNAL ENTRY:
I am always happy to see the American Flag. I love seeing those colors
wave in the winds or simple rest against the pole. Sometimes I feel
like doing that myself.
I see flags like this and they just seem right. this one was flying
outside a business, but it seemed very patriotic!
There are lots of reasons people display the flag.
Only a single flag was needed on Iwo Jima.
I don't remember seeing John Kennedy
standing in front of more than a single flag.
But, sometime ago, flags began being used
for reasons other than patriotism. They
became sales banners. The poorer the
product, the more flags are required to
make it seem better.
These journal entries are only my own
thoughts as I walk but it makes me
sad to see the flag used in such a trivial
manner.
This should have felt very patiotic.
It just didn't.
These flags are sales banners disguised
as something that represents America.
We are; and should be,
so much more.

WALK ACROSS AMERICA: PHOTO ALBUM PAGES
This is statue stands in front of Books a Million where Natt and I
stopped to browse.
I liked the big turtle! I'm not sure Natt became all that close with
our shelled friend.
I hadn't heard of this place, but it seems likely there are more than
one of them
around the country. I liked it very much, though it had the corporate
feel of the
Believe it or Nots and the Wax Museum places around the country. Still,
it
was colorful and exciting.
If these were placed in a reverse order, I might have connected to them
a bit
more.
I like street venders. They add to the flavor of cities but more, they
are seeds
from which nearly all great businesses have grown.
Crossing over the river, I had to realize, I was not in Kansas Anymore.

This giant bison seemed to be standing in the grass watching as I walked
on by.
Members and Posts of
these organizations have
given us support along
our journey. I hope
this projects serves them
as well as they have served
this nation --
and us while we walk.
The links below can take
you to personal myspace
pages. I hope you will
keep up with what
we are doing, and add
to the project: drop us
a note, suggestions or
comments.
This gentleman's brother was a Vet. He helped me find my way out of
the area.
I was turned around
and around
and around
in the mall.
Sadly, the heat and the
humidity ate his name
as it rested in my
shirt pocket.
This site follows us as we make our way along America's
roads and highways, but this project is about raising awareness for
a linear museum of American History called: The
Walk.
The project is about one individual and then another:
not one more important than the next, but each a link in the chain we
call "America."
Millions of stories that should never be forgotten, perhaps preventing
some future American from making their mistakes, or leading the next
generation to a brighter future.
Our future is not written in stone. It never was. This
nation was not left to us as a gift. It was left to us as a challenge.
We can do no more. We should do no less.
I hope you enjoy looking
at these pages. Maybe
return to our beginning
and walk with us,
enjoy the things we saw
and maybe laugh at some
of the things we did.
Some suggest we have
lost our minds. Maybe.
May just ask if they
can help us. When I hear
that question, I am forced
to admit, "Many people hope you can."
