THE WALK
(THE AMERICAN WALK BEGINS)
(THE VETERANS WALK)
So much of what Americans
and others believe
happened as a part of American History
actually happened long before
The United States was a nation, there are a
great many misconceptions about the
WHO and WHAT we are.
There is a subtle shift as we arrive
at 1743:
the year Benjamin Franklin gathered with a group of men
and women to discuss what he called,
"The American Philosophy."
This is as good a date as any to begin the march
to the creation of a new nation.
A different kind of a nation.
A nation unlike any established since men and women crawled
out of dark, dank and dreary caves.
What a cast of characters: men and women
from every part of
Europe and Africa; bold men and women of adventure,
quiet philosophers, farmers and doctors,
soldiers and sailors, loggers and fishermen,
miners and whalers, explorers and settlers.
These were not men and women to stand
together at parties,
nor in churches.
They were as different as they could be,
different but for one cause: Liberty!
They would stand together, for just long enough to free this nation
from being taxed by those who would not allow us to speak out
on their own behalf,
then demanded that each citizen be allowed to go his or her own way.
An entirely new concept: Freedom!.
Individual Liberty!.
Born to the highest office in the land: Citizen!
Born with “Inalienable Rights” and “Awesome Responsibilities”
- the responsibility to bear the burden
of defending Our Constitution,
not only from those who would destroy us
from other lands,
but also from those who would encroach upon our liberties
from within our own ranks.
This is My America, mine as much as it is yours;
and, yours as much as it is mine.
A small stream moves between the sections of The Walk
at this point. One represents the continued exploration
of North America and the other the development
and growth of The United States of America.
The paved American section of The Walk
transforms beneath the arch at this monumental date.
This portion of The Walk allows people
to
separate these two very different histories!
Many will find things they have always
associated with American History actually
happened before; sometimes long before
the meeting led by Ben Franklin
where he presented what he called,
"the American Philosophy".
At that point the states and commonwealths
that made up the thirteen colonies will present
their unique place in those early days.
Some Native American Tribes may elect
to
create their mark at any time along this portion
of THE WALK,
At the point in time when States joined
the original thirteen colonies,
they will be given the opportunity to create something to mark that
date.
It may be as small as a plaque or marker,
a sculpture or statue,
or as grand as a monument
or a living history village/town.
These should be constructed;
and in the case of living history villages or towns,
operated by the States, Cities or Towns they are to represent.
The products sold in these areas should be products
of the state, city or town replicated.
Certain cities and towns played enormous roles
in the history of this nation, a specific moments along
THE WALK,
such Cities and Towns will be allowed
to place plaques, monument,
sculptures, monuments,
cultural centers or living history streets.
And, in this section of THE WALK,
Nations will be allowed to continue placing representations
other their cultures at the point in time when their first citizens
arrived on the shores of our nation. Our America!
This is more than a cultural exchange,
it is one link the a chain of ideas that make up the
philisophical, spiritual, cultural and economic principle
embedded in the construction and operation of The Walk.
