Our founding fathers,
quite likely, began meeting in groups of two's, three's and such. Some
members; undoubtedly thought the ideas being promoted to be insane.
At least this (OUR)
idea isn't dangerous!
Many movements; in
this nation, have risen from the grass roots. Such "bottom Up"
movements are not spread as quickly as ideas promoted by great industries
or media mogels. Perhaps, they should not be. They are spread by word
of mouth: one person talking to another, rising to spread out to small
groups and thus they grow. Still, eventually, it reaches those large
industries, media mogels and even those who represent us in our Towns,
Cities, Counties, States and finally, Washington, D.C.
Projects that require
such growth, are those that are solid and flavored liberally,
with common sense. Such things are often hard to package in pretty containers
and even more difficult to be conveyed in short sound bites. They need
time to be studied, looked over carefully, reflected upon and questioned.
As people find the
idea worthy of their time and effort, the idea grows. Perhaps
not as quickly as someone out to make a quick buck might like: certainly
not quickly enough to score political points for an election in process.
Still, this is the solid foundation of things that last. This Nation.
Electricity. The Automobile. Airplanes.
Computers and even the Internet.
We have seen the idea
of grass roots hijacked in recent years. Big monies being
spent; on many sides and fronts, slipping on the guise of a grass roots
movement.
Americans should always be on the watch for sales pitches, whether it
is a product
or an idea. It is right to question the details of the project. Does
it; in fact, make Sense? Common sense? It is right to ask any and every
question that can be asked.
If it is; indeed a
grass roots movement, the answers will be forthcoming and direct,
for it is not possible to dodge questions posed by individuals or small
groups and it
is by that process such movements are refined to embrace all of those
ideas that fit smoothly into the project or idea that is growing.
Not all answers will
be accepted by every individual in the room, but by that process, those
who remain true to the grass roots movement can and are able to address
the questions more clearly and directly, because of the practice they
have had through the lengthy discussion phase that has constructed and
added strength to that project or idea.g
